Wolfeboro – Jolly the Trolley’s Summer Park ‘n Ride Shuttle begins July 1 and will operate a bit differently this year. In addition to the Kingswood Arts Center at 21 McManus Road, Jolly will also pick-up at the Wolfeboro Falls Public Parking Lot next to Linda’s Flowers, 91 Center Street to accommodate those coming to town from the north as well as the south. The schedule will also vary depending on the day of the week, running every half hour on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 am – 3 pm and Wednesday through Saturday from 7:30 am – 6 pm. There will be no shuttle on Sunday. “Last year we found the service was used primarily by visitors from 10-3,” said Wolfeboro Trolley Company Owner Kathy Fairman. “And we found that several businesses were closed on Sunday reducing the number of employees parking downtown,
so the need was not so great that day.” She said the original plan for this year was to run six days, Monday-Saturday, 10 am to 3 pm.
However, in response to the Wolfeboro Police Department’s announcement that it will enforce the two-hour parking ordinance, Jolly’s schedule has been expanded on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday to start at 7:30 am and run until 6 pm to accommodate people who work downtown. “The goal is to relieve parking congestion downtown where shoppers are forced to circle looking for an open parking space. We want to make it easier for everyone, resident and visitor alike, to enjoy our downtown and frequent our shops, restaurants, and services.”
In order to further encourage employees to use the service, the Shuttle will be FREE from 7:30-10 am and 3-6 pm on Wednesday through Saturday.
Fairman noted that all businesses advertising with the Wolfeboro Trolley Company have also been issued free Season Passes to be used on either Molly or Jolly the Trolley anytime all day. “We could not run this shuttle without the support of businesses which purchase signs on our trolleys,” Fairman explained. Individuals who would like to support the shuttle may purchase a Season Pass on-line or on the trolley for $100. “If we find this makes a difference, and I have to think it will, then hopefully next year we can expand Jolly’s hours on the other days and add a stop on North Main Street,” said Fairman.
Molly the Trolley’s schedule of Narrated Trolley Tours is the same as last year with Tours from the Railroad Station at 11:00, 12:00, 1:00 and 2:00 and from the Town Docks at 11:30, 12:30 and 1:30.
